Every week, at least two women die by the hands of their current or ex partner. That’s not something we at The Green Desk can turn away from. After all, how can we hope for people to take care of the environment, if the people around them aren’t being taken care of?

Domestic violence is no secret. The problem is it’s not being shouted about by the media as much as it should be. It’s that thing we all know about but don’t like to mention it. Thankfully, Women’s Aid, the UK’s largest domestic violence charity is committed to turning that around and has already significantly boosted awareness.

While it’s hugely important to provide support for victims, it’s crucial to take awareness to the heights of so many other issues, like global warming and the credit crunch. Sure, it doesn’t affect us all – but it affects millions – so it’s not something we can turn our back on.

To thank Women’s Aid for all its amazing work and to try to bring an end to this critically overlooked problem, we are dedicated to reinvesting a huge percentage of our total profits back into Women’s Aid.

As a social enterprise, it’s what we do – but we want to make sure it goes somewhere that’s truly close to our hearts. While we desperately want a green Britain, led by UK manufacturers, we also want a happy Britain. That’s why we’re helping to ensure the most vulnerable members of our society are given the help they deserve.
