Organ of Corti – the sound of recycling
We like recycling. Surprised? Probably not. We’ve seen all kinds of things recycled into new, interesting and often useful things – pens, belts, cupboards, cutlery and more. But we haven’t seen ‘noise’ recycled before.
Just because noise pollution isn’t at the forefront of climate change, doesn’t mean you can’t have a pop at recycling it. That’s exactly what one musical duo (a composer and an architect) have done. Their instrument, The Organ of Corti, resembles a playground organ and takes in the background noise around it and reuses it to create music.
Who knew noise pollution could go to good use. In fact, it was considered so innovative, it won the £50k prize for the most innovative idea for new musical work.
It might not solve landfill problems, but it’s further proof that the UK is packed with innovators that are constantly pushing the boundaries. Take a look here to learn more about this amazing piece.
