Painting the town red
At The Green Desk, we’re not one to back down from a challenge – even if we’re told it’s impossible. So, when one customer requested a paint shade that many said couldn’t be made, we set out to prove otherwise.
It started with a small enquiry: “Can I have paint for my boardroom?” Simple enough. Oh, but it has to be in Pantone 1797 (a very precise red). After speaking with specialists we were told it wouldn’t be possible to make an exact match, but an approximation can be made.
Our customer didn’t ask for an approximation. Pantone colour systems aren’t designed for approximations. We needed the real thing.
And so, we made our own mix – we put together a paint specialist and a print expert. In true British enthusiasm, they discussed at length how it could be done. The result was a paint mix that, when dry, was an exact match for Pantone 1797. Ideal for our customer’s boardroom and sourced from the UK, it was just another job done The Green Desk way.
For many, the easy way out of a tough request is “sorry, we don’t have that”. That’s not something you’ll hear in The Green Desk office. We go that extra mile, then get on a train and go a few more, to make sure that whatever you want for the office, we will find it. That is, as long as it’s humanly, scientifically and physically possible. If not, well, we’ll give it a good go anyway.
